Metro Birmingham forecast: Rain coming but severe weather threat lower
It was 67 degrees at 6 a.m. in Birmingham and central Alabama will see a new round of rain and storms today although the severe weather threat is low, according to the National Weather Service.
In the forecast, today will see some sunshine but late afternoon a slow approaching cold front will bring a modest chance of rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds and hail. The high will be near the mid 80s.
Tonight the rain chance will increase to 40 percent, then diminish only to rebound on Tuesday to 90 percent. Again there will be a low chance of severe weather. Tuesday and Wednesday will be cooler with highs in the upper 60s as the cold front slowly passes. Wednesday should clear and turn sunny.
The balance of the work week should be sunny and warmer, reaching the low 80s by Friday.
