A Law on business registration reform was passed by Parliament on May 3, 2007.
Act 9723 "On the National Registration Center " establishes the National Registration Center (NRC) as a new central government agency. The new law and the establishment of the NRC were established by the Government of Albania and METE supported by the Millennium Challenge Albania Threshold Agreement project, implemented by USAID.
This reform is an important step in the overall program of the Government to improve the business climate in Albania. It provides several important advantages for foreign investors.
It is important that foreign companies will need the following documents:
1. Registration certificate - a document confirming the registration of a foreign company in a foreign country.
2. Documents confirming the current status of foreign companies of any type, which proves that the company in a foreign country:
a. Is not bankrupt / or
b. Do not filed for bankruptcy procedures / or
c. Do not filed for liquidation / deregistration procedures / or
d. is not liquidated / deregistered / closed.
Official documents of foreign countries for foreign companies must be legalized by laws and international treaties ratified by the Republic of Albania. Private and public official documents of foreign companies, should be translated into the Albanian language and the translator's signature must be notarized.
